King Center Melbourne FL


Named for the former President of Brevard Community College, the Maxwell King Center in Melbourne FL is the premiere performing arts center in Brevard county. Completed in 1988, and originally named the Brevard Performing Arts Center, it is owned by a subsidiary of Brevard Community College and is designated a state cultural institution. It is located on the Melbourne campus of BCC which is located at the corner of Wickham and Post Roads at 3865 N. Wickham Road.

The King Center Melbourne FL is a mutli-use facility that attracts a variety of top entertainment venues throughout the season from country and popular music artists to contemporary and classical dance troupes, touring Broadway shows, orchestras and much more. They also schedule a number of family events and offer a children’s theater that is very popular with the students of Brevard county. One of the most popular events of the year is the Nut Cracker performed by a local dance troupe, which invites top dancers from all over the world to perform with them, making this show a much loved community and family tradition.

The mission of the King Center is to enhance the quality of life for all the residents of Brevard county. One of the ways they seek to fulfill this mission is through their youth outreach program. According to their website they are especially committed to providing youth with a memorable performing arts experience. Because they desire to cultivate a life long appreciation for the arts and culture in the residents of Brevard county of all ages they offer a range of art and cultural experiences.

The main theater is not the only venue at the performing arts center. The King Center Melbourne also hosts rehearsal halls, dance studios, an art exhibition area, a smaller 250 seat theater all in addition to its main 2016 seat performing arts theater. Individuals, organizations and businesses are able to rent out spaces within the King Center Melbourne FL for private events such as weddings, graduations, art exhibits and more.

Although the center is only open during performances, the ticket office is open throughout the week, Monday through Friday from noon to 6PM and Saturdays noon to 4PM.
